Consider, for example, two young men taking a graduate school entrance exam. Imagine they are taking the same exam and that both are equally prepared, but one person arrives at the classroom with sweaty palms and a racing heartbeat, while the other remains perfectly calm and relaxed. What really makes the difference here?

The distinction lies in the story that each of the students is telling himself. One student may be saying to him, “I will just do my best. Everything will be fine.” Meanwhile the other is saying, “I am terrible at standardized tests, and my whole future depends on this one test.”

In both cases, the story is the creation of the prefrontal cortex, the part of the brain that analyzes and judges our environment. In the case of the stressed-out student, he is sending out a message that says, “Emergency! Sound the alarms!” The hypothalamus, sitting like a guard on top of the brain stem, hears the message and then relays it through hormonal and bioelectrical signals to the rest of the body. The sympathetic nervous system also known as the fight-or-flight response, is activated- diction is slowed, heartbeat is increased, and circulation is compromised, including in the brain.

New discoveries about the cell membrane have led Lipton and other scientists to reconsider the ancient Asian concept of ki, which was once rejected as irrational. As it turns out, the energy emitted by your brain, your brain waves, may be crucial to the overall health of your cells.

Cellular health is critically important for your physical health because cells are the building blocks of your body. If your cells are not healthy, your body is like a building made of weak, disintegrated bricks.

Remember that all disease begins at the cellular level. All cancers, for example, begin with one mutated cell. When organs malfunction, this also begins at the cellular level. And the integrity of the cells that make up the artery walls plays a big role in cardiovascular disease.

Fortunately, healing also happens at the cellular level. Your body has an amazing ability to heal and grow itself, which is what Brain Wave Vibration is all about. Through it, you can learn to communicate positive, healing energy to your body.

Brain Wave Vibration training helps synchronize your brain waves with the natural healing power contained within every cell of your body. You can start by making sure that the content of your thoughts is positive. Many studies have shown the important role of emotions and attitude in determining long-term health. Positive thinking patterns are clearly a precursor to good health. In addition, they help facilitate proper flow of ki through the body, leading to a vital, fully developed sense of health and well-being. Quantum physics has taught us that everything in the universe is ultimately energy, and Brain Wave Vibration will empower you to use your brain stem to emanate positive, supportive energy throughout your body and into your life.

Energy Management Is Life Management

Brain Wave Vibration is essentially a means of managing your energy, in much the same way that you manage your time or your finances. If you feel stressed out or burned out, you may think it is because you have too much to do. That may indeed be the case, but for most people, burnout comes from the inability to manage their energy, not from having too much to do.

Research has shown that the body and mind function according to ultra biorhythms, cycles in which the body moves from high-energy to low-energy states. At the low point of the cycle, which occurs every 90 to 120 minutes, your energy dips and your mind wanders (Schwartz). In response to this energy deficit, people usually reach for that extra cup of coffee, grab a sugary snack, or just suffer through the feeling of listless fatigue. This kind of habitual behavior in the long run only produces burnout and inefficient working habits. What people really need is an effective way to recharge their energy, rather than to push themselves artificially through the feeling of exhaustion and brain fog.

On top of this tendency, most people’s work is not balanced from the brain’s point of view. These days, most people find that their jobs require a great deal of processing from the prefrontal cortex, especially for left-brain functions, like logical, symbolic, and verbal processing.

Have you ever stopped to realize that you owe everything you are to your brain?
If someone asks you who you are, what do you say?
Maybe you say something like, “My name is John. I am a twenty-seven-year-old man of African descent, and I currently work as an elementary school teacher in Dallas, Texas.”
Instinctively, you and John both know that there is much more to you. John loves most of all to be in the presence of greatart. The hair on the nape of his neck stands up when he smells freshly fallen rain. Both of you have experienced a great range of love and suffering throughout your life. How can one name
or one identity sum up all of this?
All these things do have one thing in common, however—they were generated through the brain. John’s brain enabled him to become a school teacher, and it is through his brain that he feels awe when standing before a powerful painting. A symphony of sensory input and memory within his brain gives rise to his reaction to freshly fallen rain. It is also within his brain that he stores his definition of what it means
to be a man, twenty-seven years old, and African-American.
In some sense, you could say that you are your brain. Or, at the very least, the brain is the instrument through which you experience all reality. And it is through it that you interact with reality—in every emotional reaction, in every choice that you make, and in every dream that you dream. Everything you
ever have been or will become is because of your brain.

The conditions of your life at the present moment are also dependent on the condition of your brain. If you love the conditions of your life, you must use your brain to help you maintain that life. If you want to change the conditions of your life, it will also require effective use of your brain.

The traditional name for Dahn Yoga is Dahnahk, which literally means “the study of energy.” In Korean, Dahn refers to the primal, vital energy which is essential to all life forms, and hak refers to the sudy of a particular theory or philosophy. Thus, a Dahnhak practitioner is one who studies the system of energy for the purpose of overall self-development.
