It’s getting warmer and warmer and seems like it’s already Spring in Texas. When the weather changes some people catch cold and suffer from allergies. I would recommend to practice Dahn Yoga at your home. It’s not difficult at all. Any body can do it. First, sit down comfortably on the floor with the half lotus posture. If it is not comfortable for you, then you may sit on a chair. Second, place both of your hands on your knees having the palms facing upward. Close your eyes. Imagine that you are in the middle of a very peaceful, warm and cozy forest. Birds are singing and butterflies are flying in the sky happily. Breathe naturally. Watch how you breathe in and out. As you breathe in, you take in Cosmic energy which will make your body healthy and your mind clear. As you breathe out, you exhale stagnant energy out of your body.

Do this for 3 minutes. Remember, the thing is to relax and focus on your breath. Relax your shoulders. Let the tension in your chest go. It only takes a few minutes to practice Dahn Yoga for your health. This is a very basic and simple example of breath work for beginners. I hope all of you to enjoy energy training and breath work.

Recently there was a National Press Release titling, “American Stress Levels Reaching an All-Time High.” Research at Cornell University proved that Dahn Yoga will help to not only reduce stress but, “participants in a cohort study reported fewer depressive symptoms, less anxiety, and greater self-efficacy.” You can read the article below:

American Stress Levels Reaching an All-Time High

SEDONA, Ariz., July 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — The summer of 2008 has proven to be one of the most stressful times in recent American history, with seven stressors leading national headlines:

-- Gas Prices at all time highs
        -- From $25/barrel in 2003 to $134/barrel for August 2008

-- Housing Market & Foreclosure Rates
        -- 1 out of every 501 households

    -- Unemployment Rates
        -- National Average 5.50%

    -- Economic Recession & Inflation
        -- June 2008 Inflation Rate: 5.02%

    -- International Conflicts
        -- Iraq, Afghanistan & Africa

-- Obama vs. McCain: Election 08 atypically polarizing

-- Baby Boomer Health, Aging Concerns & Social Security

The health concerns posed by the rise in stressors in America translate to numerous physical and psychological health concerns. And with over 67 million Americans qualifying as obese, and an additional 75 million as overweight, solutions to reduce stress and improve health that are attainable regardless of health or fitness level are in dire need.

Researchers from Weill Medical College of Cornell University have reviewed a lesser-known form of exercise originating in South Korea, Dahn Yoga, and the quality of life improvements associated with this energy-based form of yoga, unlike traditional Indian yogas.

The results of the study, as published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine, found that after three months of Dahn Yoga classes, participants in a cohort study reported fewer depressive symptoms, less anxiety, and greater self-efficacy than they reported prior to taking the classes, and scored an increase of 15.5 points on a mental health exam. Complete details published in “Prospective study of new participants in a community-based mind-body training program.”

“Mainstream forms of exercise have clearly proven health benefits, yet as Americans continue to suffer from stress-associated health challenges, more than ever we need ways to better manage integrated physical and mental well-being,” said Dr. Sung Lee, M.D., formerly of the Weill Medical College of Cornell, and currently Secretary of the International Brain Education Association. “I was much impressed by the depth and range of quality of life improvements among persons practicing Dahn Yoga, and believe this method has significant benefits for both individuals and organizations.”

Has anyone visited Ilchi.com yet? It’s a new website that was created because Ilchi Lee wanted a way to interact personally with Dahn members. It’s a very ineractive website where you are welcome to a numerous amounts of activies.
It shows his personal story about how his personal story. http://www.ilchi.com/global-initiatives/ This one inspires me a lot, in that it shows that Ilchi Lee & Dahn not only focus on healing single beings, but as a greater whole in reaching out to the world. Here you can also read a touching and inspiring poem he wrote about peace.

Also there are many online trainings which you can do at home. My favorite is the “Laugh and Walk” exercise. It’s really cute and funny to watch. Jangsaeng walking really helped me with my lower back pain. Not only do I think my posture’s getting better, with it and other exercises I do, plus it’s added a “spring” into my walk!

check it out and go to www.ilchi.com

Please share your experience here with ilchi.com. What’s your favorite part??
