More people graduated from Texas A&M than ever before
Pursuing a higher education can be a daunting task for some, which is why it is important that students practice relaxation techniques in order to stay focused on the ultimate goal – achieving a degree. These past few months have seen a growing number of people who have been able to achieve their goal of graduating.
According to the Cherokeean Herald, Texas A&M announced that it had a record setting graduating class this year, as more than 6,800 students received degrees. In 2010 the school had approximately 6,262 graduates, which proves how much the school has grown in a year's time.
The graduation speaker this year was James A. Baker, III, who has served for three different U.S. presidents in such roles as the secretary of state and secretary of treasury.
Attaining a college degree is important in this day and age, as it could lead to more job opportunities in a tough market. The Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that the unemployment rate for people with bachelor's degrees is 1.6 percentage points lower in comparison to people with an associate's degree.
