Even at age 5, kids can benefit from yoga classes

While it might be hard to believe that a child would sit still for weekly Dahn Yoga instruction, practitioners from many different regions of the U.S. have noted that kids seem to love the dual pursuit of balance and fun. A Dallas-based news channel recently reported that yoga classes may also benefit health in childhood.

KXAS-TV, an NBC affiliate, highlighted the classes offered at a local fitness studio. Unlike typical yoga activities, this instruction is intended just for kids, who told the news station that they love posing, stretching, meditating and breathing deeply.

Studio owner Jessi Kennedy told the source that her very first student, a nine-year-old girl with a club foot, no longer suffers from podiatric trouble. Kennedy also expressed surprise at kids' facility with yoga.

"It seems to come so natural to them and they respond to true yoga so much easier and quicker than the adults do," she said.

Because reconnecting the mind and body is important at any age, Dahn Yoga offers a number of classes for adults, children, the elderly and whole families.
